fun with me

I have been house sitting this week as well as watching the two little dogs that live there. Since I'm not one to play with dogs (or appreciate their breath, slobber, or hair), Ben and Isaac having been staying with me at night so they can play with the dogs. Last night, we decided to spice things up a bit with some ice cream. We brought a few toppings to make things a bit more fun.

Cassie & Zion's wedding

Cassie, my roommate from freshman year and part of last year, got married on Saturday. The wedding was outside by the river. It was very pretty. There was a slight drizzle in the morning and a few sprinkles as soon as the wedding was over, but it no rain during the ceremony! We were all very thankful for that.
The Stewart house was overflowing with people. It made things fun :) All of the girls that were around helped kidnap Cassie Friday night. We blindfolded her and then drove around until we found a place to get ice cream that wasn't teeming with people. We got back and played ultimate frisbee (or as Zion puts it, disk), swam a little, and then stood around the gigantic bonfire the boys had created.

I was blessed to be able to play with refugee kids again last night. The majority were from the Sudan; two were from Burma and one was from India, I think. Since it was so hot, Jared and I stopped at Walmart on the way there and bought a package of water balloons. We had a couple of water balloon battles through the course of the evening. Jared tried in vain to have all of the kids gang up on me ... the girls were loyal to their gender. All of us did get pretty wet though. I spent the last part of the evening playing with an adorable 1(?) year old Sudanese girl. I'm a bit sad there are only two weeks left of the summer ministry.

Pros and Cons of running at night ...

Pro: There is very little traffic.
Con: You may inhale a bug or two.
Pro: Sunsets are awesome!
Con: You may encounter families of rodents, such as skunks and groundhogs.
Pro: Lightning bugs accompany you.
Con: You may be eaten alive by bugs.
Pro: The bugs motivate you to run faster.
Number one way I know my brothers are all growing up (besides the fact that I'm now only taller than two) - the upstairs reeks of cologne infused products.

Caleb and I spent most of yesterday afternoon laying these brick stepping stones in for Mom. We used bricks from a house on our road that was demolished. Caleb dug all the holes, scraped old mortar off the bricks and filled the cracks in with sand while I laid the bricks in. Dad built a brick step outside of the bakery door.

Logan's bunny

Logan rescued a bunny from a chipmunk while he was camping this weekend. It doesn't have a name yet, but he is living in our kitchen in a box. When Logan isn't cuddling with it that is :P

Cheese babies

My conversation with Ben tonight while I was making supper ...

Me: Can you grate this cheese for me?
Ben: What? I can't do that?
Me: Why not?
Ben: I can't make cheese babies.

He thought I said mate, not grate.

Skirt Shopping

One of my friends invited me to go play with refugee kids with him Monday night. We were almost there when he remembered all the girls were supposed to wear skirts (to respect the customs and beliefs of the refugees). Well, I was wearing shorts, so something needed to be done. We just happened to be near a Goodwill. We found this beauty fairly quickly. I just love the buttons :P I'm going to have to find some better skirts before I go back again.
